Jane and Tony celebration

An afternoon celebrating the lives of the late Jane Manning OBE and Anthony Payne, who were pioneers across five decades of British contemporary music. Jane - a singer and founding trustee (subsequently Chair) of Eye Music Trust - premiered over 300 works during her career, and together with her husband Tony - a composer - ran the ensemble Jane's Minstrels who have regrouped for this special event. The afternoon will range from small-scale pieces for solo voice performed on the fringes of Colourscape to large chamber ensembles in the silver space, inviting the audience to experience a musical journey through Colourscape. Some of Tony's most important pieces will feature alongside works that were written for Jane by composers such as Harrison Birtwistle, Judith Weir and Naresh Sohal. Roger Montgomery (horn, conductor), Dominic Saunders (piano), Dov Goldberg (clarinet), Fenella Barton (violin) and Adrian Bradbury (cello) will perform with former students of Jane's: the singers Patricia Auchterlonie and Mimi Doulton.

Tickets will go on sale in late July.
